Why merchants accept USDT
USDT is the most widely held stablecoin: it tracks the US dollar, so neither you nor your customer takes on crypto price risk between checkout and settlement. For high-risk and cross-border businesses it is often the payment method that works when cards are declined.
Settlement is final. There are no chargebacks on an on-chain transfer, and the money lands in a wallet you control — not on a balance that can be frozen.
Supported USDT networks
Pass the ticker as coin when you create an order. Minimum amounts are set by the network so small transfers do not get stuck; the live list with current minimums is always at GET /v1/crypto/coins.
| Network | Ticker | Status |
|---|---|---|
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | bep20/usdt | Live — low fees, popular with retail buyers |
| Ethereum (ERC-20) | erc20/usdt | Live — higher network fee, larger tickets |
| Polygon | polygon/usdt | Live — very low fees |
| Base | base/usdt | Live |
| Optimism | optimism/usdt, optimism/usdt0 | Live |
| Arbitrum | arbitrum/usdt0 | Live |
| Avalanche C-Chain | avax-c/usdt | Live |
| Linea, Berachain, Monad | linea/usdt, bera/usdt0, monad/usdt0 | Live |
| Tron (TRC-20), TON, Solana | trc20/usdt, ton/usdt, sol/usdt | Being connected |
All live networks share one EVM address format, so a single wallet (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, a hardware wallet or an exchange deposit address that supports the network) receives USDT on every one of them.
How a USDT payment works
- Your server creates an order: amount in USD (or any of 30 fiat currencies) or an exact amount of USDT, plus the network ticker.
- UTOPAY returns a unique deposit address, the exact USDT amount and a hosted payment page with a QR code.
- The buyer sends USDT. Once the transfer is seen, the order shows
detected: true; after confirmations it becomespaid. - The funds are forwarded on-chain to your wallet in the same transaction flow, and your webhook receives
payment.succeeded.

Fees
One rate: 1.5% of the received amount, deducted on-chain when the payment is forwarded. The blockchain network fee is extra and depends on the network — BEP-20 and Polygon cost cents, ERC-20 costs more. There are no setup, monthly or withdrawal fees, because there is nothing to withdraw: the money is already in your wallet. See pricing.
Underpayments and wrong transfers
- If the buyer sends more than 1% less than requested, the order becomes
underpaidand you get apayment.underpaidwebhook. The money is already in your wallet — you decide whether to ship. - Transfers below the network minimum, or in another coin or network, are not processed. The payment page shows the exact network and amount and warns the buyer before they send.
- Each order has its own address, so payments never get mixed up between customers.
