UTOPAY for Easy Digital Downloads

What the plugin does

• UTOPAY — cards & PayPal: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Revolut; the buyer pays on the UTOPAY page.
• UTOPAY — crypto: the buyer picks a coin at checkout and gets an address with the exact amount.
• The payment becomes Complete only after the plugin re-reads it through the API and the amount and currency match; then EDD sends the download links.
• Underpaid crypto and amount mismatches get a payment note and stay Pending — the money is already in your wallet, you decide.

Installation

1. Download the ZIP above. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → Install → Activate.
2. In the UTOPAY dashboard create a test key utopay_sk_test_… (Integration → API keys).
3. Downloads → Settings → Payments → UTOPAY: paste the key, list the crypto coins.
4. Downloads → Settings → Payments → General: enable UTOPAY — cards & PayPal and/or UTOPAY — crypto.
5. For crypto add your EVM wallet in the dashboard (Project settings → Funds & payouts).

Test payment

1. With the test key buy any product and choose a UTOPAY gateway.
2. In the UTOPAY sandbox press the green ✅ button.
3. You return to the purchase confirmation; the payment is Complete with the note “UTOPAY payment ord_test_… received (test)”.
4. Replace the key with utopay_sk_live_….

How payments are confirmed

Each payment carries its own notification URL (?edd-listener=utopay) with the payment id, amount and currency, signed with your secret key. UTOPAY signs every event (HMAC-SHA256) and retries for six hours.

The plugin checks both signatures and re-reads the payment through the API. The confirmation page repeats the check, so a store behind a firewall still completes payments when the buyer returns.

Troubleshooting

• UTOPAY is not offered at checkout — the store currency is not supported or the key is empty.
• “amount is below the minimum” — the cart total is below the minimum of the method or coin.
• Payment stays Pending — check Downloads → Tools → Logs (gateway errors) and the payment notes.
