Why UPI matters
UPI processes the majority of digital payments in India. Many Indian buyers do not have cards that work for international purchases, so without UPI a large share of them simply cannot pay you.
How it works
- Create a payment with
"provider": "transak"or send a payment link with that method pinned. - The buyer chooses UPI, pays in rupees from their UPI app and completes the partner’s one-time check on a first payment.
- The payment is converted to USDC and sent to your wallet; your webhook receives
payment.succeeded.
curl -X POST https://api.utopay.app/v1/payments \
-H "Authorization: Bearer utopay_sk_live_..." \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{ "amount": 40, "currency": "USD", "provider": "transak",
"description": "Course access" }'
Good to know
- The minimum is about $30 — for smaller tickets, offer crypto as an option.
- Transak also offers cards and bank transfers in other countries, so the same flow works beyond India.
- You do not need an Indian company, a GST registration or an Indian bank account.
